Can a tooth be infected under a crown?

Question

Tooth had RCT done and food trapped while temp crown on. She cleaned and put permanent crown was put. After a few days i have pain around ear, neck, jaw etc. went back adjusted the bite. It smelled bad when i floss. Now after 2 days pain still not getting better... my gum is swollen. She said wait for at least a week... black area was shown in the xray around crown and gum line. She said keep it clean floss well.. i am not sure if she needs to redo the crown? It is infected? Any thoughts?

It sounds like you don't trust what your doctor is telling you.When yo feel that way a second opinion may be the correct path.

Hi:The tooth under the crown can not get infected, it can get decayed and the roots or the gum can get infected.  Rinse with warm salt water, keep the area clean and have it reevaluated in 7-10 days.Best,Dr. Maddahi

It certainly sounds like there is a potential problem. I would suggest getting a 2nd opinion to at least reassure you if there is no problem.
