It is most common in the USA to be put completely to sleep (i.e. general anesthesia) for buttock implant surgery. Thus, after an iv is established, all the needles used are after the patient is asleep. Glad to help.
Buttock implants are usually done under general anesthesia. I have made excellent experience with asking my team of anesthesists to add an epidural which can keep you pain free in the first 24 hours when pain can sometimes be intense. That is surgeon preference so not everybody will do that.
Dear Rae, Thanks for submitting your goal pictures. I have operated on over 500 butt implants patients. The overwhelming majority of them had it done under epidural or spinal anesthesia and IV sedation. This is the safest way to do the surgery, since you are laying prone ( on your stomach ). Very few patients who had difficulty in the past or in my surgery center with spinal anesthesia, had the surgery under general anesthesia. Additionally, I inject the butts with long acting local anesthetic ,which can last 6-10 hours, which means that you go home or to the hotel painless. The technique that I use - sub fascia (on top of the muscle) , is the only technique that can allow for large size butt implants . The biggest implants that I have used (very popular lately) is 660 cc . Bigger implants can be used for larger patients, however , they are special order and it takes 2-3 weeks to deliver by the manufacturer. Please, realize, that not all results are the same, because there are different techniques and different implants. Also, experience, skills and aesthetic eye are critical for good outcome. So, do your due diligence and choose wisely. Always, consult with experienced board certified plastic surgeons who do lots of butt implants surgery in accredited surgery center for your safety. Most importantly, check the before and after picture in the photo gallery, to make sure that they are numerous, consistent and attractive. Best of luck, Dr Widder
To have buttock implants, you would need to have general anesthesia or deep sedation. This is not done under local. A BBL can sometimes be done under local.
It is very difficult to determine the exact size and shape implant you will require to best match your ideal butt image without an examination by a board certified plastic surgeon. Not just any board certified plastic surgeon, but one with many years of frequently performing breast augmentation...
Thank you for your question. Every surgeon has their own post-operative protocols. I recommend asking your surgeon how he/she would recommend you care for your incisions. Best of Luck,
I prefer to place them within the muscle. They often sit a bit high initially and then come down with time. Best of luck.
