Is it normal to still feel tight in the tummy at about 5 months into diep-flap reconstruction recovery? (photo)

I am a little more than 5 months into recovering from my bilateral diep-flap reconstruction. Will my tummy ALWAYS feel this tight and do I just need to get used to it? (I know my breasts don't have too much feeling and know this will not change significantly over time. Should I expect the same from my abdominal area?) Thank you for your time and in-put!

Each of my patients is put into a physical therapy program for DIEP flap patients.This program is used starting 1 to 2 weeks after surgery.   You can call the Breast and Body Center of Austin and get a copy faxed to a physical therapist in your area.

Hello,It is common to still have a feeling of tightness along the abdomen following DIEP flap reconstruction for up to 1 year. I would advise following up with your plastic surgeon for an evaluation if you have any additional concerns.
