If I do not reach my goal can I get a second Orbera placed a few months after my first one comes out? (photo)

Great question. The short answer is yes, you can have a 2nd balloon placed if you have not reached your weight loss goals after the initial 6 month balloon treatment. As of right now, Orbera is only FDA approved for 6 months (it was recently approved by the European Union to remain in place for 12 months, but that does not apply to US patients). However, you are still on track to reach your weight loss goals and I'd recommend really maximizing all components of your weight loss program, particularly exercise. This is great opportunity to shed calories without increasing your appetite. See if you can meet, or even exceed your goals! 

I would recommend after your first balloon is removed, to wait at least two months to see if your weight loss maintains or even continues. Furthermore, this gives time for you stomach to recover prior to insertion of a second balloon.
