Why is there such a cost variance?

I found a place in Puerto Rico that offers it for $3000 while locally, i haven't found anything lower than $6000. If the point of this device is that there is no surgery, shouldn't it be a cheaper option? Also, any word on when BCBS will make it a covered item?

It is difficult to conceive the quoted cost in Puerto Rico considering the cost of the balloon. You must be very careful in selecting the procedure solely based on cost. The procedure is cheaper compared to surgical alternatives. No word yet on insurance coverage
