Nipple Discharge Normal After Breast Augmentation?

This is a condition which occurs after breast augmentation and when it persists is termed galactorrhea. It generally resolves on it's own and usually not an indication of any serious underlying condition. If the drainage is cloudy. I amy keep my patients on prolonged antibiotics but that is not generally indicated. It is probably due to pressure on the milk ducts but is more likely to occur when breast augmentation follows cessation of nurising and/or lactation.

Nipple discharge can happen after a breast augmentation. It is usually caused my increased pressure on the milk ducts. It is more common when you have the surgery after you have nursed and stopped lactating. If the discharge is discolored, an anti-biotic should help. If it does not stop, you should definitely consult your plastic surgeon. However, it should clear up on its own.

 This is quite common and is usually due to milk production from the gland coming through the ducts and out the nipple. It does not usually indicate an infection. Clear or milky discharge can last for a few days to a couple of weeks. If there are worrisome signs, such as redness, fever, odor, or discharge from the wound, make sure that you see your surgeon.
