Answer: Too Many Crusts Yes, this is normal that some crusts appear after a hair transplant, but you need to make sure that both the recipient and the donor areas are as clean as possible during the postoperative period so that regrowth can be optimal. In your case, you have too many crusts on your scalp, so this is very important to scrub them during the shampoo. Pay attention to use your fingertips, not your nails. You can also apply sweet almond oil in order to soften the crusts.

Answer: What happens with the scabs after #hairtransplant? The scabs start to fall off after 5-10 days and sometimes the hair shaft falls off with it, however the follicles are under the skin and will start to grow in after a few months.

Answer: 8 days post hair transplantation At 8 days after surgery, be very gentle in cleaning the recipient area. I do not recommend direct contact. I tell patients to spray the area multiple times per day with saline. Also use diluted baby shampoo to run over the area without touching the recipient area with your hand. It is normal to start seeing hair fibers with a small scab at the base. I do not recommend putting moisturizer on the recipient area with your hands. You can put some grapeseed oil in a spray bottle and spray it on the area.

Answer: You scalp has far too many crusts on it You should have been washing it daily to get rid of the crusts before they formed. An FUE is treated just like a regular hair transplant with regard to the recipient area, but the donor area has open wounds which require daily washing with soap and water. Within 3 days of surgery, you can resume full activities, heavy exercises if you wish. The recipient area requires daily washes as well to keep the recipient area free of crusts. I generally recommend the use of a sponge and supply my patient with a surgical sponge to fill with soapy water and press on the recipient area daily. By repeating this daily, all crusts can be washed off without any fear of losing grafts. IF any crust are present, use a Q tip and dip it into soapy water, and roll it on the crusts and that will lift them off without dislodging them, but never rub them, just roll the Q tip on the recipient crust. I like to see no evidence of any crusting in the recipient area and the crusts from the donor area gone in 7-10 days with daily washing,.
