How long should one wait after a hair transplant covering the frontal and temple areas before having a C02 laser resurfacing on the face including the forehead and near the temples?
Answer: Hair Transplant before undergoing CO2 Laser Resurfacing As a medical professional, I would recommend waiting a minimum of 6 months to a year after a hair transplant before undergoing CO2 laser resurfacing. This period allows the transplanted hair follicles to fully establish and the scalp to heal entirely. Each patient's recovery timeline may differ, so it's essential to evaluate each case individually. Prior to proceeding with CO2 laser resurfacing, it's advisable to consult with the patient's dermatologist or plastic surgeon to make an informed decision based on their healing progress.

Answer: Reply to "Waiting Period for CO2 Laser Resurfacing After Hair Transplant?" Hello I'm Dr. Wipawan Vathananai, a co-worker of Dr. Kulakarn Amonpattana, from BHI Clinic, Bangkok, Thailand. I would highly recommend you to wait at least 2 weeks after the hair transplant in order to get CO2 laser resurfacing because the grafts are still sensitive to displacement during the first week and it takes around 2 weeks for the wounds on the donor area to get fully healed.

Answer: Waiting Period for CO2 Laser Resurfacing After Hair Transplant It’s important to give your scalp ample time to heal after a hair transplant before undergoing a CO2 laser resurfacing treatment, especially since the laser will be applied near the transplanted areas. Generally, I recommend waiting at least 6 to 12 months after a hair transplant before having any aggressive skin resurfacing treatments like CO2 laser. During this waiting period, the newly transplanted grafts need time to fully establish and for the scalp to heal properly. CO2 lasers can create significant heat and cause inflammation, which might interfere with the delicate healing process of your hair follicles if done too soon.

Answer: CO2 Laser Resurfacing after transplant Hello and thank you for your question. I suggest waiting a good 6 months before you undergo laser resurfacing. You want to make sure the transplanted follicles have healed entirely so that you don't undo what the transplant did. I know it's difficult to wait but I advise you to have patience. Best of luck to you. Dr. T
