After a hairline lowering surgery, the common recommendation to wait 6 months before getting a hair transplant is primarily to ensure that the scalp has fully healed. Here’s why this waiting period is crucial:Healing and Inflammation: The scalp undergoes significant changes during hairline lowering, including the stretching and repositioning of the skin. It takes time for the tissue to heal, for inflammation to subside, and for the blood supply to stabilize in the operated area. Performing a hair transplant too soon could interfere with this process and negatively affect graft survival.Scar Maturation: Scarring from the hairline lowering procedure needs time to soften and fully mature. Hair transplants placed too early into scarred or healing tissue may not take as well, or the results could be less natural. Waiting allows the scar to settle and ensures a better base for graft placement.Accurate Assessment: After 6 months, surgeons can better assess the final positioning of the hairline and the scalp’s overall condition. This helps them design the most effective and natural-looking hair transplant for filling in areas of thinning or gaps.
Hello and thank you for your question. I suggest waiting 6-12 months after hairline lowering surgery to get a hair transplant. You want to make sure that everything is completely healed before shocking the area again. I would definitely consult your surgeon for an assessment of the area before booking a transplant. Best of luck to you.Dr. T
Hello I'm Dr. Wipawan Vathananai, a co-worker of Dr. Kulakarn Amonpattana, from BHI Clinic, Bangkok, Thailand. I would recommend 6-12 months after hairline lowering surgery because hairline lowering surgery can cause temporary hair loss along the hairline, also called "shock loss" or "telogen effluvium." It takes around 6-12 months for these hairs to come back. Also, it is better to get it done when the tissue is completely healed after the hairline lowering surgery.
After six weeks, the skin is completely healed (unless you've had complications) and the tissue strength is the highest it will be. But scar tissue can take up to 6 months to one year to "remodel" and it's not advisable to do a transplant in that area until the scar tissue is finished remodeling. I understand that you are eager to move forward but to get the best result, you really need to wait the 6 months.
Hello and thank you for your question. I would suggest you wait at least a year before you have a hair transplant after your latest procedures. Your latest procedure could cause shock loss of hair along your hairline. In your case, I think it's best to be more conservative and wait a year....
You should wait at least 1 year after stopping hormonal treatments to see if the hair returns on its own. Hormonal drugs can result in telogen effluvium (a stress-related shed) and the hair will return about 1-2 years after the drugs have been stopped without any intervention. I would not...
