I am planning to have Renuvion J Plasma skin tightening on my lower belly, arms and back. If I decide to have Smartlipo at a later date is it possible to have Smartlipo on areas treated with Renuvion J Plasma? How long do I need to wait between procedures?
Answer: Renuvion Renuvion J Plasma is typically done at the same time as liposuction. I encourage you to visit with a board certified plastic surgeon to learn more about these procedures. I also have included a video that I hope you find helpful.

Answer: Smart lipo Smart Liposuction uses laser to help tighten the skin. The Renuvion actually does a better job than most lasers to tighten skin. I would not combine the two treatments because of the potential of damage to your skin from too much heat. I would suggest waiting 6 months in between to let the first treatment have enough time to tighten all that it can. You might not need more heat.

Answer: Renuvion and Laser Lipo Both Renuvion J plasma and Laser assistance are performed after some form of liposculpting procedure. After lipo is performed (traditional vs VASER), the remaining anchoring ligaments of the skin to the underlying muscles are referred to as the FSN or fibroseptal network. What renuvion J Plasma does is cause contracture (shrinking) of the FSN. Renuvion J plasma is NOT a substitute for a skin excision- and this is where most surgeons inexperienced with the device find themselves getting into trouble, or stating that the device does not work. Renuvion J plasma does NOT address skin redundancy (skin excess) but rather helps with skin laxity (skin looseness). It also tightens the skin by about 40-50% as opposed to a traditional excision (or cut). The major benefit is that there is no large incision associated with the procedure as it can be done through the same poke hole incisions as the lipo. In my practice, I have a large subset of patients that require skin tightening procedures rather than extraction of fat. I am able to offer them Renuvion J plasma, while setting realistic expectations. I use a tumescent solution, followed by VASER to create channels for the Renuvion J plasma, without performing actual liposuctioning - if their procedure doesn't call for it. The goal is to have the procedure done once, and correctly, without the need to undergo Smartlipo later. Should you want to undergo the procedure, you may. There is no downside. Hope this helps, Dr. Satey

Answer: Understanding Renuvion and smart JPlasma is an adjuvant to Liposuction and is ideally done in conjunction with Liposuction. Without doing liposuction it’s very difficult to pass the Renuvion cannula under the skin. The treatment is meant to be done in conjunction with Liposuction. The same is true for the laser component of smart liposuction which is simply a secondary laser treatment done immediately after traditional liposuction. In the end neither J plasma nor laser assistance add any significant benefit to any other form of Liposuction. I have owned both Renuvion and cynosure Smart-Liposuction equipment firsthand. There is no enhancement or skin tightening from these secondary treatments which cannot be explained by Liposuction alone. Patients who have skin laxity need to either except the skin laxity or have proper skin reducing procedures. The holy Grail of nonsurgical skin tightening has yet to be found. Despite the claims I suggest avoiding any procedure based on the name of the device and focus your efforts exclusively on the skill and experience of the provider which is the only thing that matters when it comes to body contouring results except the individual candidacy of the patient. I sold the Renuvion device on eBay and my smart Liposuction device is collecting dust in my garage. My practice has been devoted exclusively to Liposuction and fat transfer procedures exclusively for over a decade. To date I have performed over 8000 liposuction procedures with and without adjuvant treatments. The only two variables that determine quality results are provider skill and patient candidacy.
