Does ultrasound therapy help relieve/fix capsular contracture?

I am not sure that the verdict is completely out on the ultrasound therapy. I think that there is some evidence that it works for some patients, but not necessarily all. I have tried to research the effectiveness of these therapies such as the Aspen System and haven't been able to pinpoint exactly how truly effective they really are. It seems that if they work, they require multiple treatments in a very regimented program. I think that having to drive 6 hours for each treatment would likely prohibit you from being a good candidate. You may end up being disappointed with the cost and effectiveness.

Capsule contracture, or hardening of the scar tissue,can occur soon after surgery or delayed over time. Massage and other treatment modalities such as ultrasound can be be helpful in preventing it from progressing. Small amounts , such as grade 1and 2 , dont usually require treatment if they are stable. If the breast becomes hard and uncomfortable, surgical correction will be required. Follow your surgeons guidance on addressing the problem.

This is an interesting question that has yet to be answered definitively. I haven’t seen any scientifically proven data/articles to show that ultrasound has a proven benefit for capsular contracture. Lots of claims but no real proof. I think until there is more research and controlled studies, I wouldn’t waste your money or time. It’s also unknown what the ultrasound will do to your breast implant integrity if the ultrasound tries to break up the capsular contracture using heat from the ultrasound. I hope this helps.
