I’m thinking of getting a Restylane Light skin booster done this week. However I read some terrifying stories re dermal fillers online, people going blind, etc. Are skin boosters injected more superficially than regular dermal fillers? And if so, does it mean that there is almost 0 chance of serious complications, like going blind?

Answer: Skin Booster Filler Injections Skin booster injections can be done a number of ways for different reasons. The idea is to provide the skin hyaluronic acid directly in order to get the skin to make its own collagen and to thicken the dermis. In the young with early wrinkling, this involved just injecting directly under the dermis (the support layer of the skin). In those with significant wrinkles, it involves injecting the wrinkles themselves to elevate them and traversing perpendicular to the wrinkles as with younger individuals. The injections are done in a very superficial plane away from the vessels that are generally considered those dangerous for causing blindness. This does, however, need to be done by an expert.
