How safe is microneedling on the upper eyelid?

Question

I have a white upper bleph scar. I'm considering multiple microneedling treatments to make it blend in more. Last resort will be a skin color tattoo. Question - how safe is to do microneedling over 1.5 year old upper bleph scar? Can I make it worse? I have just enough skin to close the eye so want to make sure microneedling doesn't tighten it more. Appreciate any inputs!

Thank you for your question in regards to microneedling. It is not recommended to microneedle upper eyelids. Scar gels and creams with an SPF would be suggested first to help minimize the appearance of scarring. Laser treatments are more abrasive and will require having some downtime, but can be an option as well. To be sure what is best for you, see two or more board-certified providers in your area for a complete evaluation to make sure you are a good candidate and that it is safe for you to have treatment. I hope this helps.
