I'm very concerned about my face. The left side is OK, but the right side has red blotches and streaks and looks terrible. What's the chance of this fading? My doctor says it will but I have the feeling he's brushing me off. Using triamcinolone acetonide ointment 0.1% 3 times per day, along with cetaphil cleanser. How concerned should I be about these marks being permanent, and should I be using something else to get rid of these streaks and blotches?

Yes, this can happen with CO2 lasers - in fact when I am treating acne scars, I warn patients of this, as it is an EXPECTED outcome - depending on the power of the laser, the density and passes. Also the skin type of the patient comes in to play. This will fade in time, your specialist will know how to handle this. If its still red at week 6 I use a vascular laser - 2 to 3 sessions over 2 -3 weeks will subside the redness. Things will improve. For now use lots of sunscreen and hats. All the best, Dr Davin Lim.
