I have had 2 bad experiences with Veneers. The 1st ones were too big and bulky and too white. Looked like piano keys. I went to new doctor and they redid them but they look yellow around the border and my right side and left side look uneven. I just got them done a week ago. Please let me know if you have any amazing dentists that could help?
Answer: Prototype That's very unfortunate, sorry you've had to go through this inconvenience. I will preface by saying that photos are always helpful. Anyhow there should not be yellow stains around the borders of your veneers. Possible reasons are the type of cement that was used and its shade (color). Another possible reason could be that a glycerin gel was not used during the cementation process. This prevents an oxygen-inhibited layer that could form between resin cement and porcelain, which could result in chalkiness or discoloration. Another reason could be that the underlying shade/color of your teeth (dentin) is showing too much through the veneer. Either the porcelain is extremely thin in that area or too transparent. In reference to your right side and left side looking too uneven, it is always paramount to have a pre-treatment diagnostic waxup prototype of the end result, which is used as a guide throughout the process. This always allows the dentist to duplicate the prototype on your teeth before treatment and also while your temporary veneers are on. This way you and the dentist can both be interactive, analyze and be critical of any discrepancies or subtleties that you don't like, before the final veneers are made. My suggestion is to find a cosmetic dentist who has had extensive educational background and training with such facilities as Spear, Kois, and/or Dawson Academy. They thoroughly train dentists on diagnosing, planning and executing beautiful, predictable, and long-lasting cosmetic dentistry. I would also recommend a dentist who uses premier dental laboratories who produce strong, quality, yet beautiful porcelain veneers and crowns. There are thousands of labs in the country, but there are only a select few that consistently produce exceptional results. We fall under those two categories, and would be happy to help. Otherwise, best of luck!

Answer: Veneers. Color. Yellow Dear lskstowe: I am so sorry to hear that after all that you've been through you are unhappy with the result of the Restorations you received. Before you go running around searching for a new dentist, you should speak to your current one and ask about the yellowing. From your description it is impossible to tell whether the yellowing is just a stain that was put into the nearest to make them look real, hygiene stain which could be cleaned off readily, or just the cement line that stained yellow very quickly. If you can't get a resolution with your current dentist, go to the specialist in this area and find a prosthodontist who would be happy to look at your work and evaluate it. there are plenty of prosthodontists in New York, just look online. Best of luck,

Answer: 3rd Time’s the charm? Sorry to hear your experiences. To answer your concern, there should not be yellow stains around your week old veneers. Are they composite or porcelain veneers? If you don’t like your results, you must speak up now. The sooner you share your concerns with your dentist, the more stand you’ll have against the issue. The longer you wait, you may exacerbate the issues. Call your second dentist today. If he’s not willing to fix it, then you’ll need to buy a third set with another dentist. Please find an AACD dentist this third time around.

Answer: Please post a photo it would be helpful if we could see a photo of the areas of concern. The only “yellowing” that might happen with veneers is: 1. They are not sealed properly and there’s bacteria leaking under the margins of a veneer. This happens occasionally with older failing veneers 2. Gum recession causing your own natural tooth to show. This usually happens with aggressive brushing or teeth clenching and grinding causing the gums to pull back and expose the yellow tooth underneath. Either way it’s always a good idea to have them rechecked. I recommmend you schedule a follow up visit with your dentist and share your concerns with them.
