Will veneers prevent me from being able to bite my nails?

Question

I have been an on-and-off nailbiter my whole life. I'm considering veneers and am trying to convince myself of other positives apart from plain-old vanity, since my natural teeth are absolutely fine and on the whiter side and I basically just want that "Hollywood Smile" that can only be achieved artificially. So I'm wondering... Will veneers prevent me from being able to bite my nails? 'Cause that would be awesome...

Biting your nails with veneers is definitely not advisable!
As a cosmetic dentist who's had veneers for 15 years myself I find it almost impossible to bite my nails, and haven't done it in years. That being said, like any habit, it takes willpower and determination to break it. However, if you get veneers you'll probably wont be able to bite your nails, and i'll be easier to break the habit.

Veneers should work just like teeth, but it is not a good idea to bite your nails in general and for sure not with veneers...  they are tools for food...  not tools for trimming nails or opening bottles...  ;)
