Could these mounds be migrated cheek filler? Should I try dissolving? (photos)

Question

I had cheek fillers a few times over years. Can this mound be migrated filler as it only affects the left side? Should I try dissolving it???? I'm Only 30!

Filler migration and permanence is a very common problem because there are many different types of HA fillers on the market and each is specified for a specific part of the face. Use of highly cohesive fillers on thin skin may cause swelling and nodularity. If patients have filler migration or nodules, we recommend a combination approach of filler reversal with enzymes Hylenex and Hyaluronidase in different strengths to dissolve the filler. We may also need to add Kenalog to the mix in order to reduce fibrous tissue. If the filler does not dissolve, it either means the filler is not HA material or we need more enzyme. The HA reversal can be combined with other lasers and skin treatments at the same time, and it usually (usually) does not affect adjacent tissue.

This is highly unlikely. There are no communicating planes for the cheek filler to migrate to such a large distance inferiorly. Those are classic marionette lines, and those are hard to treat with fillers. In this case, barbed PDO threads would provide excellent results.

Thanks for your question. Filler placed in the cheeks would not "migrate" to this region. That is not possible due to the connective tissue compartments in the face (ligaments that separate different tissue and fat pad sections- think of them like compartments). Believe it or not you CAN have skin laxity even at age 30. We start losing collagen in our 20's and for some people due to lifestyle (sun exposure for example) and/or genetics the process may occur more quickly than for others. Consider looking into skin tightening procedures to add back lost collagen to the skin, which helps "turn back the clock". An example would be the "Total Skin" procedure by Lutronic.

Unless you had a lot of fillers placed into that very same area, well performed filler injections should not travel anywhere on the face unless a filler was placed into the lower eyelid. I would encourage you to review the photographs of yourself prior to any treatment and compare them to the current photographs.
