Well you should tell about your hernia to your surgeon, theres no risk if your surgeron is a good certificated plastic surgeon, you should fix both hernia and liposuction, at the same time .Its very easy to do it, don't waste your money and time, recomendation to your surgeron is, put his finger in the hole of the herina during the liposuction to prevent canulas introduced to your abdominal cavity, when finish the liposuction, fix the herniaif the hernia is small or big always its better put a mesh over the hernia
I would not liposuction in the area of a hernia. I would either repair the hernia first or avoid that area for liposuction. Kenneth Hughes, MDLos Angeles, CA
An umbilical hernia will not affect liposuction. With the patient recumbent it will be reduced and out of harms way during the procedure.
Your umbilical hernia may be covered by your health insurance and can be repaired at the same time as your liposuction procedure. Why have two surgical procedures involving anesthesia and recovery time, when you can have one and recover at the same time? Consult a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon.
Certainly, the hernia is not zero risk, but I do not believe you need to be exceptionally concerned about it and its presence is not likely to compromise the quality of your operation. What it does suggest, however, is a weakness in your abdominal wall. If you are getting liposuction to treat an abdominal bulge, it may well be a muscle problem rather than a fat problem. In your case it would be critical to see a board certified plastic surgeon who does more than just liposuction to be evaluated.Best,Dr. Pyle
My only concern is that, if you have a true umbilical hernia, I wonder whether liposuction is the right procedure for you. WIthout a photo, it would be impossible to say. If you have abdominal bulge as a result of the hernia, you can't expect that to go away.
I do not know of any reasons why having your thyroid removed would prevent you from being able to undergo liposuction surgery. You need to consult with a board certified plastic surgeon and determine if there are any other reasons why you would not be a good candidate. Hypothyroid conditions are...
It is normal to have pins and needles zings and shooting pains following this procedure.Black and blues are also normal if it feels like there is fluid below the black and blue area, it may be a hematoma, a small collection of blood. If it is just a bruise, it will go away in a couple of weeks....
I can't tell from the photographs provided but it appears as though there is a large amount of excess skin. Liposuction will remove any surplus fat but the appearance of excess skin might be aggravated. Nevertheless the appearance of the abdomen should improve with time.
The only thing that I have my patients do is to treat firm areas of the skin after liposuction with massage. You will see improvement in the "divots" with the massage and time. I think that the massage can be done by yourself and you don't need to go to a masseuse. But using a small vibrating...
The answer is of course, YES, you CAN have liposuction for abdominal fat. The question however is what type of result can you expect? After all, it's not liposuction you want, it's a trim, beautiful abdomen. To answer the question: How do you get from where you are to an...
Generally speaking, virtually all plastic surgeons recommend wearing compression garments for a number of weeks after liposuction. The purpose is to control swelling, help prevent pockets of fluid from developing in the space where fat was removed, and even help the skin redrape as...
