Its almost impossible to match a crown to a single front tooth. I have worked with some amazing ceramists over the years who have successfully matched a single front tooth. However, over time things change and their will be a color mismatch. The especially happens if you whiten your teeth before having the crown placed. Problem is, that over time as your teeth age, they will discolor and change in appearance whereas the crown will not. This creates a problem we see all too often on our practice. A patient will come in with a crowned front tooth that doesn't come close to matching the teeth on either side. The story is usually the same, the crown matched when cemented, however, overtime things changed. I always recommend treating both front teeth at the same time. You can veneer one and crown the other, at least they both have the same color porcelain. Then as your teeth go under their natural evolution, your front teeth will still match in color. This is extremely important since your two upper front teeth are on center stage in your smile and nothing looks worse when those teeth don't match!
