Hi, I (38) had botox for the first time and love the results so far. I'm am still able to move my eyebrows, but there are no more frown lines and my eyebrows are slightly lifted. (they were very very slight before, so not a huge change) I did not tell my husband, as he is against botox. Next week his best friend, who is a dermatologist will visit us. I am panicking that he sees that I had botox and will tell my husband. So question is: can skin experts always see if you had botox? Best Prettyfrog
Answer
If your husband's friend performs these treatments, he will very likely notice you had Botox. Even "natural" Botox still has a certain "look", if that makes sense.

Answer
Most of the time a doctor that performs these treatments will be able to tell if you've had injectables or not.

Answer
Oftentimes a doctor cannot always tell if a patient has had Botox treatments. Depending on wrinkles and their appearance, sometimes a doctor can tell. There isn’t an exact science that anyone can use. There is no valuative scientific method by which someone can gauge whether or you have received Botox. It is more of an art and a clinical assessment. My Suggestion: Don't panic. Talk to your doctor if you feel that the side effects are too noticaeble.
Answer
Thanks so much for your question. It's hard to say if your dermatologist friend will be able to tell that you've recently had Botox. Since you are still able to move your eyebrows, it sounds like you got a very natural result which will make it much harder to tell. My goal when injecting Botox is always to use just the right amount so that patients can enjoy their desired result while still looking like themselves, which involves having some remaining natural movement. Best of luck with your upcoming visit!

Answer
Thank you for your question. Generally, a dermatologist can tell if you’ve had injections like Botox. However, it’s to determine without a photo. Please make sure you get a in person consultation with a board-certified dermatologist.
Answer
Thank you for your question Prettyfrog. Botox is a purified protein used to address wrinkles associated with facial expression. I tell my patients that it is important to discuss cosmetic treatments with friends and family who may be concerned with the treatment prior to having a treatment. In this way such situations are avoided. Please consult with a doctor for specific recommendations. Good luck!
Answer
Depending upon how much botox was used and what results it created will determine if it is noticeable. A respected MD would not divulge your secret unless you asked him to .
Answer
Hello Prettyfrog,Thank you for sharing your concern with us. I can appreciate your dilemma and we frequently are faced with this problem. Physicians are trained to be observers thus a Dermatologist will likely know you have had Botox. Granted he will probably congratulate you for having it done and it sounds like you have obtained a nice "natural look" from it. Be honest with your husband, will work out best in the long run. Perhaps his friend can educate your husband about misconceptions he may have.
Answer
I can appreciate your question. The answer is maybe they can tell but there is no way he can know for sure, especially since you have some motion. Furthermore, in my opinion, it would be inappropriate for any doctor to make an off the cuff evaluation and discuss it with your husband. His friend should know well enough that patient confidentiality is of paramount importance and should not discuss his opinions with your husband.
Answer
Most physicians especially those that do injections would be able to tell if you had botox by observing how you move the muscles. Pull his friend aside and let them know you don't want your husband to know.or just tell your husband. My experience is that most spouses are opposed to botox because they think it will change how you look. Once they see the results are natural they are more accepting.
