I think it would be better either to use a softening product which contains fruit acids, lactic acid or glycolic acid on a daily basis on the hands such as Environ Hydrating lotion with Environ AVST oil.
In theory, it can be done, but my suggestion is to see a medical dermatologist. There are conditions called keratoderma that can give rough hands. A compounded solution such as 5 % Lactic acid in sorbelene cream or 5-8% sal acid in cream can help. Calmurid is an over the counter prep and can be bought online. Far safer and better.
