In 1995, I got GoreTex implants in my upper & lower lip. As I've aged, and the skin has thinned, I can see that the upper implant bows out over the vermillion border, looking like a lump over my lip on one side. Especially visible when I smile. What's the removal process like, esp if there's adhesion (after 30 years, I'd assume at least a little !). It's the solid ribbon-like GoreTex, not the hollow form implant. Thanks!!!

Yes, the Permalip implant is made of silicone and can be removed. This will leave a void so you will need fat grafting and/or a lip lift. These procedures can likely be performed simultaneously.
Personally, I prefer to avoid placing lip implants because of movement, migration and asymmetry. As an alternative, I would recommend an upper lip lift procedure if the distance between your upper lip vermilion and the base of the nose is greater than 15 mm. This procedure will elevate the lip...
You may benefit from having a lip lift following the removal of the permalip. The distance from the base of the nose to the lip vermilion is important and usually determines who is a candidate for the procedure. Fat grafting may be another option.
