I understand the technical differences between laser, ultrasound, power and radio-frequency assisted lipo. I also get that it’s the doctor’s skills that play the most important role. With all that said, would any particular method be recommended for male flanks and lower abdomen? Are any particular methods more effective than others? Thank you for your help.
Answer: Liposuction Hi, thank you for sharing your question. Any one of the modalities you mentioned can deliver a superb result in the right patient by the right surgeon. If you have excess skin or poor skin tone (which is often dependent on your age, health and genetics), some of those technologies may be better suited for tightening the skin. You may also consider a mini tummy tuck if you have significant excess skin because this will not improve with any of the mentioned techniques. An in-person evaluation by a few plastic surgeons may prove invaluable to helping get the right plan for your particular goals. I hope this helps.

Answer: Liposuction Hello! It is great that you are learning about liposuction in general. Let me preface this by saying all modern forms of liposuction are generally considered equally safe and effective when performed by an expert surgeon on properly selected patients. And virtually all the studies show that the most important factor for obtaining a good result is by far the skill of the surgeon performing the procedure. That having been said, our practice owns all the major forms of liposuction, and we use them interchangeably. Following the tumescent stage, I have found success with VASER ultrasonic liposuction - it just works very, very well for the higher fibrous tissue in men, followed by MicroAire power-assisted for the removal. I have not felt that the SmartLipo Laser-assisted is as effective or efficient as the VASER liposuction, especially if there are fuller regions. I hope this helps. Respectfully, Jules A Feledy, Jr, MD American Board of Plastic Surgery, American Society of Plastic Surgery

Answer: Liposuction method Dear Huska, it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: What type of liposuction to use? Hi and welcome to our forum!Liposuction involves removal of fat through small pipes (cannulas) placed under the skin under extreme vacuum after pretreatment with an infusion of solution containing a blood vessel constrictor (to prevent bleeding) and an anesthetic (if performed awake). Augmented liposuction utilizes laser energy or ultrasonic energy to semiliquify the fat, making it easier to remove and adds a subtle skin tightening effect.Liposuction is a safe procedure. It is a reshaping procedure and not a weight loss procedure. In general, the experience of the surgeon is more important than the type of instrument utilized. There are many brands of liposuction equipment available, each manufacturer claiming that their brand is the best. I recommend you visit a plastic surgeon with considerable liposuction experience and allow him / her to use the instrument with which he / she feels most comfortable.Best wishes...
