Hyperpigmentation / hypopigmentation after a fire burn. Should this be treated soon and what are the best options? (Photos)

Hi! On 3/17/25 I pouring a little bit of gas from a red plastic gas container onto a bonfire. The fire caught the gas tank and caused it to actually explode. I quickly rolled on the ground and extinguished the flame that was on me. I suffered majority of first-degree burns to my right arm and face. All of the open wounds have currently closed up. My face peeled from my lips to my forehead. Currently I have noticed some hypo/hyper pigmentation both on my arms and face. I had met with a local dermatologist who recommended I use a brand new product that just come to the market by the name of Eucerin radiant tone. He recommended I should first try this before I use medicines such as hydroquinone , tretinoin , kojic acid cream. also pull up pull up I was told to stay away from the sun and apply SPF cream. What is the problem if I do get sun exposure without sunscreen? In regards to the pigmentation should I just wait it out hoping that my pigmentation will return back to normal within a year? I just don’t want to miss a window of opportunity if there is one at this time as opposed to a later time. I appreciate whatever response I can get in regards to this matter. I am currently 43 years of age and in good health. Pictures are attached.
