I was told by a practitioner that I would need to stop taking Adderall (amphetamine salts) for two weeks prior to doing laser hair removal. Is this true? I also take Truvada (daily) and Lorazepam (~0.5 mg as needed, maybe once per week) but not as worried about those since I could more easily stop taking those during my treatment if needed.
Answer: Laser hair removal It is recommended to stop taking Adderall (amphetamine salts) for at least 24 to 48 hours prior to laser hair removal to reduce the risk of potential side effects such as burns, hyperpigmentation, and scarring. However, two weeks is a longer time frame than usually recommended, and you may want to clarify with your practitioner why they recommend this specific length of time. As for Truvada, it is unlikely to interfere with laser hair removal treatment. However, if you have concerns, you should discuss them with your healthcare provider. Lorazepam is a benzodiazepine used to treat anxiety and may not interfere with the laser hair removal treatment. However, you should consult with your healthcare provider before stopping any medication and discuss any concerns you may have. Best of luck !

Answer: Laser Hair Removal while taking Adderall Hi, thank you for your question! Adderall does not cause any contraindications with laser hair removal. Medications such as Accutane I would recommend stopping 4 months prior to laser hair removal to the face. Any type of retinols I would recommend stopping a week prior to procedure.

Answer: Adderall and Laser Hair Removal Hello, It is entirely safe to continue Adderall while completing a series of laser hair removal treatments. There is no photosensitivity that Adderall causes so it does not need to be discontinued prior to your treatment. The only medications taken orally that need to be discontinued are antibiotics in the tetracycline family such as doxycycline and minocycline. Hope this helps.

Answer: Adderall is not a contraindication You would not need to stop Adderall before laser hair removal. Stimulants are not a contraindication to laser. Your practitioner may have gotten Adderall confused with Accutane?
