How does the consumption of alcohol affect fat graft survival? How long after the procedure should one wait before drinking?

Thank-you for your question. I do not think moderate alcohol intake interferes with fat grafting or fat survival. I have not asked any of my patients to stop social drinking after the procedure unless they are taking pain medications. I do ask patients not to take alcoholic drinks the day before the procedure. There’s no evidence that moderate alcohol consumption has any negative affects on the outcome of any plastic surgery procedure.
Providers may have specific recommendations and if you are scheduled to have surgery then you should ask your provider.
Alcohol isn’t it south or fairly unhealthy substance and consumption of large amounts of alcohol damages many tissues in your body.
Moderate consumption should not be an issue.
In the end there are generally only two variables that matter. The first is the patient’s individual candidacy for the procedure and the second is choosing the most skilled and experienced provider.
Those are the two variables that determine whether people get quality results or not in almost every case.
