Is it safe to have AviClear treatment done shortly after Botox injections?

Question

I have an AviClear treatment scheduled 48 hours after Botox injections. Neither appointment can be rescheduled without significant inconvenience to me and the providers. However, I don't want to run into issues with the Botox--namely, migration. This seems unlikely, but it would give me extra peace of mind to have confirmation from a dermatologist or plastic surgeon, re: minimal risk. Thanks!

In general, having AviClear 48 hours after Botox is considered safe, and the risk of Botox migration at that point is very low.

Botox (botulinum toxin) begins binding to nerve terminals within hours of injection. While we advise patients to avoid rubbing, massaging, or putting significant pressure on treated areas for the first 24 hours, most meaningful diffusion happens early. By 48 hours, the toxin is largely internalized at the neuromuscular junction and much less susceptible to displacement.

AviClear is a 1726 nm laser that targets sebaceous glands in the mid-dermis. It does not mechanically manipulate muscles or deeply massage tissue. Unlike aggressive facial massage, microneedling directly over injection sites, or intense external pressure, AviClear energy is delivered in a controlled, non-ablative manner. There is no evidence suggesting it increases Botox migration risk when performed after an appropriate interval.

For additional peace of mind:
- Avoid firm pressure over injection sites during the AviClear treatment.
- Let your laser provider know you had Botox 48 hours prior.
- Continue standard post-Botox precautions (no vigorous rubbing, no facial massage).

In clinical practice, many dermatologists routinely combine neuromodulators and laser treatments within days of each other without issue. A 48-hour gap is generally considered sufficient and conservative.

Based on current understanding and experience, proceeding as scheduled should carry minimal risk of Botox migration.
