To make an assessment, we generally need to see quality pictures. Most women have significant breast a symmetry. A symmetry can be in the form of shape, size or often both. Fat transfer can increase breast volume by about 1/2 cup or about 50% Volume when done by an experience provider. Fat transfer does not change the shape of the breast in any significant way. Subtle reductions can be done with liposuction, but most breast reduction surgery involves removing skin fat and breast tissue. I suggest patience have in person consultations with board-certified plastic surgeons, who have extensive breast surgery experience. Ideally you should be in the hands of a provider who has all options available to you to choose the best procedure. Delivering consistent liposuction and fat trans results is more difficult than most people realize. The number of providers who mastered this procedure is relatively small. It is only one of many different options to treat a symmetry. You may want to ask yourself if you prefer your smaller breast to match your larger breast or your larger breast to match your smaller breast. This would have a major impact on which procedure you opted for. if you consult with providers who do limited procedures, you may be limiting your options so having a few consultations may be in your favor. Generally speaking, I always encourage people to have more than one consultation before selecting a provider. During each consultation, ask each provider to open up their portfolio and show you their entire collection of before and after pictures of previous patients who had similar body characteristics to your own. And experience provider should have no difficulty showing you the before and after pictures of at least 50 previous patients for common procedures. Make sure the pictures you’re looking at are the work of the provider who is going to do your operation. Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
