I am soon going to have Implant removal and bilateral capsulectomy. I have had PIP implants since 2006 and the full capsulectomy has been advised. I have been to see two surgeons and received different info on the time for this procedure. One saying only 45 minutes and the other 2-2.5 hours so I am not feeling confident in the procedure at the moment.

Answer: Breast Implant Removal I give each person a a range of 2-2.5 hours when removing the capsule en block for silicone gels that may or may not be ruptured. If the capsule is very firm and the implant is know to be ruptured then these cases invariably will take longer.

Answer: Explantation Full capsulectomy usually takes 3 to 4 hours unless the capsule is very tight and calcified. If you are ill, then you will need total capsulectomy (which not all surgeons can do), antifungals for several months, immune and endocrine support, treatment of co infections and detoxification of chemicals and silicone in order to recover your health.
