My breasts are really far apart (Photo)

Question

I had breast augmentation in January 2015. 600cc gummy bears under the muscle . They look and feel very natural, but they are very far apart. Pretty much under my armpits when I lay down. They were spaced pretty far before the implants but I thought they would fix it. I have NO cleavage without a bra !! Would a lift fix this ? Or am I going to have a hand-wide gap forever ?!

Dear Shannon4028,I get this problem all of the time.  Typically, its from women who went with high profile implants.  This is a problem because while they project more, they are narrow at the base and can have widening effect on cleavage.  The second most common problem is incomplete release of the pectoralis muscle medially. Many surgeons don't take the time to make this right.  If you're not happy with your current plastic surgeon, feel free to come in for a second opinion.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS

Dear ShannonMany thanks for your question and photographs.I sympathise with you concerns, but your pre-operative photographs demonstrate that your breasts were reasonably far apart prior to surgery. Surgery cannot move the "footprint" of the breast significantly - in fact, what can happen is that per-existing differences between your breasts or features of your breasts are highlighted after surgery.Regarding whether a lift would help - you have very large implants, and the weight of the implants (and their size) would limit the longevity of the result you would get from a lift, so I don't know if it would be worth it, unless you were prepared to downsize. Also, the lift would not bring your breasts closer together.I hope this helps you - all the best

Cleavage is limited by your anatomy. You had very wide cleavage to begin with and it will stay similar to as it is now.
