Answer: Is Orbera covered by insurance? Diet after Orbera Hi, Insurance does not cover the Orbera procedure. The cost will vary by region, but is typically between $7000 and $8000. In our program, the cost of the program includes placement and removal of the balloon (done endoscopically) and 12 months of comprehensive care, including monthly dietician visits and 24-hour access to your physician. The placement of the balloon is a same-day procedure. It takes less than 20 minutes and is done under a twilight sleep. We recommend a liquid diet for 7 days after the balloon is placed, then slowly advancing to solids over the subsequent week.

Answer: Gastric Balloon The gastric balloon is not covered by insurance at this time. It is an outpatient procedure so you go home the same day. Generally, patients are on liquids/protein shakes the first week, then advance as tolerates. The diet afterwards is similar to gastric bypass or gastric sleeve where patients focus on proper nutrition with the least amount of calories.
