Hypertrophic scar or keloid scar? (Photo)

Keloid scars are characterized by their growth potential and increased degree of inflammation within the skin. Unlike non-inflamed scars, keloids have the potential for growth beyond the original footprint of injury. Thank you for your question. This looks like a keloidal scar. I suggest discussing this with your injector as he/she would need to review if there was a change in the settings of laser. Your treatment will be stopped for now as the scar needs to be treated. Your physician should treat this with cortisone injections every month or so. I recommend having this evaluated by your physician to determine the best treatment plan for you. Best of Luck!

The fact that this is a scar is most important.  It is, however, probably keloidal.  Your doctor needs to review if there was a change in the laser treatment settings of any significant degree.  Treatment will be stopped for now and the scar needs to be treated, usually with intralesional steroid (cortisone) injections every month or so.
