Sooo itchy! Could I be allergic to my post-surgical bra?!

Question

My breasts are itchy from the side boob, below the boob (near my incisions) and my back. All areas where my post-surgical bras hit.... I wasn't itchy my first week, but I was all taped up under the bra. This week (week 2) I was super itchy and today, 2 w 2 D post op I had to cover my side boob and back in cortisone cream. Is it normal to itch in those areas too?

Thank you for sharing your questions and I am sorry to hear of your itching difficulties.  Based on your narrative it does sound like you are suffering from a contact irritation of some kind.  You may have some latex sensitivity if the areas are only where your bra sits.  Gentle washing of the area, moisturizer, intake of benadryl or oral steroids, topical ointments or steroid creams should all help alleviate your symptoms. Make sure you have close follow up with your surgeon to ensure steady improvement until complete clearance takes place.  Hope this helps.

It is very possible you may have an allergy (contact dermatitis) from your bra.  Usually this is also accompanied by a rash.  Do you have a rash as well?  You might want to try a different bra - I would run this by your plastic surgeon first before switching bras as he/she knows the particulars of your surgery.  Hope it gets better soon.
