Should I be concerned about my mole removal bruising? (Photo)

A dermatologist recently removed a large portion of a possible cancerous mole on my thigh. As I was changing the bandage to follow up with the proper cleaning procedures, I noticed considerable brushing in the area with an odd pattern. Should I be concerned? What caused this?

Can you wet the area of mole removal after stitches have been removed after a week? (e.g. bath/shower)

Thnak you for your question.Generally it is fine to shower/bath  1 week post op of a mole removal. It is best to follow &/or check with your physician regarding post op  care.

On your fair skin, I would be concerned about any dark mole that 'pops up' within a short period of time. Being conservative is worth the extra few steps in seeing a doctor. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Los Angeles

I would use local wound care followed by twice daily administration of Plato's Medicinals Scar Serum. In our office, we use Ceralase cream after the shave procedure. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Los Angeles

I suggest seeing a cosmetic dermatologist with experience in scars. There are many options at this point, I would start laser treatments 3-6 weeks after the sutures have been removed.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Shave removals often lead to healing by secondary intention. I would consider local wound care followed by pulsed dye laser and application of Plato's Scar Serum to help with this scar. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Los Angeles
