Answer: Avelar Tummy Tuck vs regular Tummy Tuck The Avelar Tummy Tuck is performed while you are fully awake. Local anesthetic is used to numb your skin and fat prior to liposuction, then the excess skin is removed. Infusion of the anesthetic is not entirely pain free. It is quite uncomfortable but relatively safe. Care must be taken not to cause Lidocaine toxicity. Muscle repair cannot be performed using this technique. Infusion alone cannot numb the underlying muscles. A physical exam is needed to determine if muscle repair is needed for best results. Please know that after childbirth most women's tissues are stretched/damaged so repair is needed. If you are having problems with weight control (also as a result of childbearing) a TT with mesh is also an option. Mesh acts as an internal girdle that promotes early satiety and improves long term results by keeping your tummy flat. Do not trust your surgery to a physician who is not adequately trained in the art and science of plastic surgery. Demand truth in medical education, question the physician's surgical training and board certification.
