My left nostril started bleeding 5 weeks after rhinoplasty is this normal?

It is highly advised not to blow your nose after your rhinoplasty or septoplasty. Since the internal tissue is still healing, blowing hard will re-injure the nasal mucosa and cause bleeding. Be sure to follow up with your surgeon for evaluation.

It is likely just temporary bleeding from the trauma from blowing your nose. Best to contact your plastic surgeon and have them evaluate your source of bleeding. Good luck

Bleeding is the most frequent early complication after rhinoplasty surgery.  My recommendations are that the patient does not blow his/her nose at all for 2 weeks following rhinoplasty and then only very gently for another 4 weeks after that.  At 5 weeks, it is most probable that you have experienced transient bleeding from an incision site that has reopened or not fully healed.  None the less I suggest a follow-up visit to your surgeon.Mario J.
