Is tetanus injection necessary before hair transplant?

Hair transplant surgery is a clean surgery (not a sterile surgery), so the risk of tetanus is virtually non-existent. That being said, it is a good idea to be up to date on vaccinations from a general health standpoint, but really has nothing to do with the procedure itself.

we as plastic surgeon count hair  transplant a surgical procedure and so its a sterile procedure any way. in india we all have been grown taking tetanus toxoid in our childhood. so it is not must to take tt injection. it depends on the surgeons concern to give the inj or not

Hello and thank you for your question. In most countries a tetanus shot is not required. That being said, if you are not current with a tetanus shot and in a high risk country then yes you should get one prior to your transplant.
