I am 17 years old and my dermatologist suggested that getting a Q-switched laser treatment would be best. However, my question is that do i have to wait until i turn 18 years old to get it done, or can i do it now? PLEASE REPLY ASAP.

Unfortunately this can happen and it is called post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. You should be treating this with bleaching creams and sun protection. It may take 3-6 months for improvement. I suggest waiting on any additional treatments at this time. Best, Dr. Emer.

hyperpigmentation, or dark spots. Certainly, the Nd:YAG is one of them. Although
it is not for everyone, it does work for a large majority of our patients. In

I have never found laser treatment to be valuable for PIH, I suggest lightening creams and noninflammatory peels. The picosecond lasers may help but I would avoid that for now till you try more standard treatments. Sun protection is essential. Best, Dr. Emer.
