Shedding of hairs 4 days after hair Transplant.

Shedding(Effluvium) early after a transplant is not unusual-these hairs should grow back over a period of months.The grafts are completely secure by 9-10 days after the procedure,and than growth will start in 2-3 months with full results evident at 10-12 months.

Washing your hair after a hair transplantation is an important step for restoration.  We usually have our patients start spraying hair with lactated ringers with liposomal ATP as well as other growth factors twice a day to help your hair process start ASAP.  Actual hair washing usually takes place several days after the procedure.  There are several advantages to this approach:

It is normal to have hair shedding days or weeks after surgery.  If you are concerned it is best to follow up with your doctor.

Transplanted graft’s hair starts to shedding in the first week of surgery and may go on untill 4-6 th weeks after surgery. İt is not surprising to lost approx.  %70-80 of all transplanted hair shafts in first month when you are washing, gently rubbing  or touching the head.New hair at transplant/recipient area starts to grow at 3-4 th month after surgery 

Shedding of the transplanted hair is perfectly normal after a hair transplant procedure and will occur anywhere from weeks 2 to 6 post op. Continue to follow your doctors post op care instructions and happy growing!

Shedding is normal. IF you gently wash the hair you should not lose hair grafts.  Within 3 days of surgery, you can resume full activities, heavy exercises if you wish. The recipient area requires daily washes as well to keep the recipient area free of crusts. I generally recommend and if you washed it properly, there will be no crusts on it, even the very next day. Use of a sponge which we supply our patients, a surgical sponge to fill with soapy water and press on the recipient area daily. By repeating this daily, all crusts can be washed off without any fear of losing grafts. IF any crusts are present, use a Q tip and dip it into soapy water, and roll it on the crusts and that will lift them off without dislodging them, but never rub them, just roll the Q tip on the recipient crust. I like to see no evidence of any crusting in the recipient area and the crusts from the donor area gone in 7-10 days with daily washing.
