When a root canal is redone, what are the chances of reusing a crown that was pulled out, if it is in good condition?

The first question is what is the material of that crown? It's recommended to go with the new crown as damage [microscopic] during the removal of the crown may result in marginal leakage if re-used.

Thank you for your question. Depending on the position of the tooth, and the material of the crown has a huge factor on whether it can be reused. Generally front crowns are less heavily loaded than back crowns and so often can last many years after being drilled for a root canal. Similarly, one piece ceramic crowns can remain structural and last a long time, as can fully metal crowns (which are less common now). Crowns with porcelain layered on top of metal or ceramic have a tendency for the ceramic to chip off which in itself can mean the crown needs to be changed. Overall - it is a case by case problem.
