Can you not have a BBL if you have history of latent TB? I never had any symptoms - like ever!

Question

I am 38F lean and healthy No major medical history besides elective plastic surgery. One kid 8yrs. I scheduled a BBL with Dr. Fisher in Miami and my surgery got cancelled due to latent TB. I have been under general anesthesia before atleast three times here and no doctor mentioned it. Why? I need help understanding if latent TB disqualifies me automatically from having a BBL. My provider did not mention anything of that sort. Thanks much

Having latent TB would not necessarily disqualify you from having a BBL. You would need to be properly accessed and cleared by a pulmonologist or infectious disease specialist to ensure no latent infection exists before being considered a candidate for a BBL.

I recommend you to visit your doctor, make some exams, get a clearance from him/her and make sure you're ready to get the surgery. Remember, safety first. If your plastic surgeon declined your surgery it must be an alert call for you.

you will need to get a clearance from your doctor prior to surgery. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.

In general, you need to be physically healthy and at a stable weight, have realistic expectations, be a non-smoker and your BMI needs to be 33 or less.
Please talk to your primary doctor to get clearance for plastic surgery and then I suggest you book a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss the best options for your goals.
