I started lymphatic massages one week after surgery ( 3 times per week) I am still wearing my compression garment but remove at night now. when I wake up my stomach looks a little better but by the end of the day it is lumpy and looks terrible. My doctor told me to use warm compression packs and continue massaging however I am I concerned that this will be permanent as it isn’t getting better. Does this seem normal? Shouldn’t it be getting a little better daily?

Answer: Normal swelling most likely Thanks for your question and photo. At 2 weeks post-procedure, you are about at the point of maximal swelling. All of the hard, lumpy areas are places where there is more inflammation and swelling. Massage should help, but will not magically make this go away - the only thing that does that is time. The swelling should slowly go down over the next several weeks to months. The hard areas should soften, but will likely feel firm and "rubbery" for up to 4 months. Trace amounts of swelling can last up to a year in some people. If there are places that are markedly more painful than others, especially if the pain is increasing, then it could be a localized pocket of fluid, called a seroma, which may require drainage. If that is the case, be sure to bring that to the attention of your surgeon. Seromas are a common minor complication of any liposuction procedure and usually do not pose a real threat, just a minor nuisance. It looks to me like your doctor did a good job and you should have a really nice result, once all the swelling goes and the skin starts to tighten down (4-6 months for that).

Answer: Lumps after vaser high def liposuction Hi there. Hi-def vaser liposuction can be a fairly aggressive treatment. I would follow your doctor's advise and continue with massaging. From my experience, such swelling and bumps do soften out over time and should hopefully go away with time. Some possibilities for hard lumps could be seromas or scar tissue, both of which should gradually dissipate. It takes 6-12 months to see final results from a vaser liposuction procedure. Keep us posted on your progress.
