Will a few sessions of RF micro needling help improve the appearance of papular acne scars on the chin? (photo)

I have been recommended rf microneedling by 2 cosmetic dermatologists for papular acne scars on the chin. I know these are very difficult to treat and see varying opinions online. Do you think a few sessions of rf micro needling can help improve the appearance of these? I’m worried about potentially making them worse. Thanks

Hi and thanks for your question!
Yes acne can be difficult to treat. However the Morpheus8 microneedling and radiofrequency treatment can be used on active acne, which is helpful since many other therapies need to have the acne under control before treating scars.
One session of Morpheus may not make a significant change, but a series of treatments (usually monthly) will help. The microneedling will need to break up the papules and the radiofrequency helps to tighten collagen and stimulate new collagen growth, so the papules do not reform. If you are already using any topical treamtents for acne, speak with your provider about whether to continue or stop these prior to treatment.

I understand your concern and do not think that RF Microneedling will make your condition worse. RF Microneedling is a good recommendation. Another suggestion is Plasma IQ pen treatment. There is more downtime and I would definitely recommend using a high quality stem cell skin serum in conjunction with any treatment you choose. You will likely need more than one treatment to see complete resolution. Use of a medical grade stem cell with growth factor skin care product before and continue after the treatments will be key to reducing the inflammation and recurrence of the lesions.
