Hi I have a hair transplant surgery next month. I was wondering about starting oral finasteride after my hair transplant as I’ve never taken it before. I only take 5 mgs of oral minoxidil and topical Dutaseride is it okay to start oral finasteride after my surgery for the very first time?

For some males, yes. For some males, that answer is no. Be sure to see an expert for advice and review of your entire story. Finasteride can really help some males. In fact, 10 % have absolutely incredible results and so good that you might not even know if your improvements are really from your surgery or the pills. Another 30 % have good improvement. But no - don’t think for a moment that finasteride is for everyone. there are lots of reasons why it should never be prescribed. Those reasons need to be reviewed with a doctor who can review your medical history from birth up to today. For example, Finasteride is not an option for males with depression, suicidal ideation, gynecomastia, and a few other issues. it’s also not for males who do not wish to use long term and not for males who do not understand all the risks and benefits of the drug.
