Can Miradry be causing hair loss from scalp? (photo)

I had my first procedure done about a month ago. Positive note: my sweating has completely stopped. However, my head hair has been breaking off and falling out. I'm scared due to the radiation targeting my glands (although localized to underarms), may have caused the hair loss/breakage I am experiencing. After all, a common side effect for patients receiving radiation/chemo is hair loss and obviously, I'm very VERY concerned.

Loss of hair in the scalp can arise for many reasons.  Stress is also a contributing factor.  However the chance of miraDry causing a radiation-induced direct trauma to the scalp is extremely low.  First, the device produces microwave energy. This energy is delivered in a very local fashion beneath the skin of the armpits. Unless the device was used off label to treat scalp sweating, I do not believe that your hair loss is directly as a result of miraDry.  Hairloss in the armpit region is possible.  I would go seek the counsel of a hair loss specialist to determine what might be the reason for your hair loss on your scalp.
