Septoplasty fail rate? 4 months post-op - need it redone.

There are many reasons why someone doesn't breathe as well as they should after surgery like yours. It can be one reason or multiple .  It could be because it wasn't done properly the first time or not enough was done or scar tissue or post trauma to your nose caused a recurrence of symptoms .  Maybe not enough adenoids were removed or not enough turbinates were reduced?  You need a thorough exam with a nasal endoscope to determine the cause. Or maybe allergies?  Often I see septoplasties done by other surgeons who did not remove enough of the deviated septum.  To get a good result the surgeon must take his time and makes sure that all the deviated cartilage and bone is removed properly without losing support to the nose.  Redo septums are even tougher as the complication rate for perforation is higher.  I do a lot of revision septums using magnification so I can see exactly where I should be to get a great result. Redo turbinate surgery also requires great skill and usually requires actually a removal of some turbinate bone and mucosa.
