Hello,Fraxel Restore is made to improve tone, texture, sun damaged or scarred skin conditions. Typically the skin does not visibly peel after a Fraxel Restore treatment, although it will be dry and sand paper-like to the touch. Redness and swelling is expected. If the Dual Fraxel was used (1927 wavelength) there will be layers of peeling skin. The epidermis is made up of many layers, the outer layer is constantly shedding dead cells and may not do it evenly throughout the healing process after Fraxel treatment. I would not be overly concerned. It is suggested to wait 7-14 days and do a light facial scrub to remove left over dead cells. Continue to apply facial moisturizers to hydrate & heal.Warm Regards,Dr Rosy Sandhu
Peeling is normal for some patients following Fraxel treatment. As the skin heals, some skin will naturally slough off. Don't pick it! Also, don't use any sort of exfoliating product either. Peeling the skin away yourself may cause scarring or discoloration. Instead, be gentle with your skin and follow your dermatologist's post-treatment instructions. The peeling will go away. If you're still concerned, contact your doctor.
It depends on what fluence and level were used for your treatment and what was the overall goal. Please contact a qualified provider or a board-certified physician with extensive experience in these procedures.
