Areola asymmetry after Breast Reduction - is it possible to bleach and tattoo areolas so they can appear the same size?

I got a breast augmentation a little under 2 months ago, unfortunately one areola has become significantly bigger than the other. I scar terribly and want to avoid nipple reduction surgery. I wondering since I have very light colored areolas, is it possible to have them bleached and possibly tattooed darker so they can appear the same size and smaller? My right areola is a great deal bigger

You’re right, areolar reduction surgery would be a bad idea for you. Not because you allegedly scar badly, but because that surgery on someone  with your breasts would turn out poorly. That does not mean that you can’t get effective and aesthetic areolar reduction though. If you want to pursue this, your are a great candidate for a breast lift surgery (lollipop or inverted T scar). Regardless of scarring on other parts of the body, the breasts are a very forgiving place for incisions, and a formal mastopexy would lead to predictable areolar reduction AND breast shape improvement with fine scars.

I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what went wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice.

Hi and welcome to our forum!Skin bleaches such as hydroquinone may cause dermatitis and unintended skin color change. The effect is temporary and must be repeated at intervals. It should be performed under medical supervision. If the depigmentation result is imperfect, the areolar tattooing would accentuate the color discrepancy.As the effect is somewhat unpredictable, I cannot recommend it.Areola reduction surgery is the proven way to achieve your desired result.
