Hi, I have some migrated filler over the corners of my lips. It looks like two small balls on the sides of my lips. This happened when I got 1ml of ha filler in september 2023. Will this migrated filler go away on its own soon? Some mri tests revealed that filler sticks around for even a decade or more. Also we know that treated areas retain volume because of collagen. So what should I do? Should I leave it alone or should I use hyal? It's unregulated and there are stories about it though.
Answer: Migrated Filler I'm sorry to hear that you're dealing with this issue. Migrated filler can certainly be distressing. Hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers can indeed last quite some time, depending on the type of filler used and the individual's body. Some types of HA fillers can last up to two years, while others may break down more quickly. The use of hyaluronidase, an enzyme that breaks down hyaluronic acid, is one of the most common treatments for filler migration. This can help to dissolve the filler and restore your lips to their pre-treatment appearance. However, as you've mentioned, it's not without its risks and potential side effects, which can include allergic reactions, bruising, and swelling. Given your concerns, it's important to consult with a healthcare professional or a board-certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon who is experienced in dealing with filler complications. They can assess your situation, discuss the potential risks and benefits of various treatments, and help you decide on the best course of action. Remember that while it's possible for some HA fillers to stimulate collagen production, this isn't guaranteed, and the effect can vary widely from person to person. Ultimately, the decision on how to proceed should be based on a careful consideration of your individual circumstances, your tolerance for potential risks, and the advice of your healthcare provider.

Answer: You decide what you want to do You have already done research and you are correct. Either wait it out or use Hyalenex to dissolve it if it bothers you. Based on the description and the amount of research you did, it sounds like this bothers you quite a lot, so just dissolving those two balls will make you happy and it's like instant happiness.I always advise to go to the same person who injected you to have it dissolved. They need to see what happened and they need to learn how to manage something like this on their patient. Good luck Best, Dr. Anna Avaliani
