There is a difference between Hi-Def and Mid-Def and it depends on what you want to accomplish. VASER Hi-Def is when you are trying to define all the musculature in an area, such as when you are operating on the abdomen you are defining the "six-pack" muscles as well as the central and lateral raphe. I will typically even define the serratus muscles and external obliques to enhance their appearance. VASER Mid-Def is typically on used in females who usually don't like a "six-pack" look. Most women want some definition of the lateral abdomen, sometimes the central lines without defining the abdominal muscles. This is VASER Mid-Def. Now, just because a surgeon says they can do VASER does not mean they are qualified to do Hi-Def or Mid-Def. These are technically demanding procedures which only extremely skilled plastic surgeons are able to perform. These procedures are also more expensive as they take more time to perform. There also is a strict post-operative course of lymphatic massage and ultrasound which I start they day after surgery and continue daily for 10 days. They post-operative garment is also different. Good Luck!
